Following a decade of diverse work as a spoken word artist, playwright and poet Tempest comes to Village Underground to celebrate the release of her debut solo album Everybody Down, released on Big Dada last month.   Produced by Dan Carey aka Mr Dan, Everybody Down is a concept album following a group of South London characters as they grapple with life and love in the modern world. No character is entirely black or white but they all aim to avoid the beigeness. Each track also acts as a chapter and will form the basis for her debut novel due out on Bloomsbury in 2015.   Tempest has been raging since she was 16. Her incendiary performances as a spoken word artist have lead to many audiences at slam sessions open mouthed at her fearsome recitals which emotionally hit you in the chest.  Her current band lineup doesn't detract from her vocal impact as Mr Dan oversees a soundtrack that drills out the words with electric drums. For this gig the drama is further heightened by a specially choreographed performance which further bring her characters to life.
