What people are saying about Billy Elliot The Musical

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A thoroughly entertaining show ! I took my two teenage boys to this show in the West End which we had wanted to see for years, It was captivating, emotional and the staging was original. The young lad who was Billy was brilliant. Especially emotional was the scene where he dances with an older male ballerina (his older self) - I shed a tear ! One reluctant word of caution, if taking younger children, there is bad language as part of the northern mining community banter. I felt it was a bit too much. But I would still recommend this show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely fantastic! Myself and my partner went to see this musical with his two children aged 11 and 8 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. A fantastic performance from start to finish. Be prepared for some bad language, I did wince a few times as we were with the children, but it didn't take anything away from how brilliant the show was. The actors were amazing, especially the younger actors and dancers. We laughed, we cried and we all loved every single second of it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Musical Theatre at its best I took my wife to see the show - she was unsure what to expect given some reviews about the use of bad language but we both came away with a smile on our face. The performance was excellent from beginning to end. At times it was very emotional and it finished on a real high. We were buzzing when we left the theatre. We had excellent seats stalls Row D 22 & 23.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite Musical I went to see Billy Elliot with my daughter who is auditioning for Ballet Schools at the moment. She loved the show and was especially thrilled to meet Ruthie Henshall after the show. Since then she has been accepted as an Advanced Associate at The Royal Ballet School. So I know how proud Billy's family must have been!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My daughter's favourite film My daughter loves the film and was desperate to see the show. We found the first half very loud and very dark but absolutely loved the second half and The boys who played Billy (Ollie Joachim) and Michael (Tomi Fry) were outstanding as was the male ballet dancer. It was funny and sad at the same time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The original film....and so much more Ever since seeing the film I had wanted to see the stage version of Billy Elliot and this lived up to expectations in every way. The show probably captures the grittiness and hard realities of the miners' strike in an even more tangible way. There are some clever uses of theatrical techniques to get the story across and the set design in particular is very inventive and engaging. The main plaudits go to the actors themselves, who portray the story in a very easy to follow way. Audiences should be warned in advance that the language is a bit fruity - certainly more than the German family sitting behind us could stomach for their fairly young children - but it's in context and part of the experience if you know what to expect. I don't really have anything bad to say, other than that the air conditioning in the fourth row was bordering on icy - my wife had her coat on for most of the performance. Other than that, a very enjoyable and thoroughly professional experience and to be recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Billy Elliott I took my friend to see this, she had had a really bad time and this show was so so well done and beautifully danced and performed. It was a joy and lifted my friends spirits and gave us a great deal of enjoyment. The language content means that I cannot take my granddaughter but never mind

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Show. I had seen the show before when it first started and very much enjoyed it again second time round. All the cast were brilliant especially Billy and Michael. My only problem was my seat which was unbelievably uncomfortable due to practically no leg room and I am 5' 5".
